BarCamp Kerala 6 happened at Rajagiri School of engineering and Technology Yesterday. it was a little nostalgic for me to be back in my college.  Despite being a Sunday  I met 3 of my old teachers including my Faculty in charge in college Mr. Biju Paul.

The Beauty of Rajagiri is always worth a  watch. 4 years back then CM of Kerala and  current Defense Minister of India Mr A. K.  Antony said “Rajagiri is a Replica of Kerala of My Dreams ” . Rajagiri’s Beauty is something that every critic of Rajagiri acknowledges.

BarCamp Kerala 6

I reached the Campus around 9 Am . Binny V A was also with me.  Few of my Twitter Friends had also reached.  A campus Recruitment of Poornam infovision  was going on in the campus  at that time and there were some people who had come to attend that.

People soon started to flow in Despite the difficulty in reaching the campus which is located at a place considered to be still remote.   I Met a Lot Of online and offline Friends  .  and as one of My friend vishnuPsp  put it .. “Saw a lot of tweeples at #BCK6. It was like watchin ur superheroes come to life ”

There was a issue regarding the lack of power sockets for the laptops.  I think Rajagiri needs to work on that a little more.

The Sessions Started Soon and the First one was By Praseed Pai
His Session was on the “Biases and Fallacies of Human Race” which was real interesting session for me . I’m not sure how many of the attendees really liked the session because of its non technical nature.  I should appreciate  Praseed for the wonderful research he has done for it.

The Session by Kenney demonstrating the Voice based Blood Search was amazing and interesting.  It was simply the best idea i found in yesterdays BarCamp.

Kenney also gave a talk on the Technology Evangelist Network and its Idea. Engo Ads was one of it. The Talk slowly moved into a phase which i would like to call  ” DropOut or Not ” . Kenney was constantly citing example of Binny and Praseed on which Praseed himself had a different opinion.

Starting up – what no one told me was a real serious session by Rajesh venuGopal. He Presentation is a guide for anyone who plans to start their own business. Young Kerala is one of Rajesh’s Initiatives which is actively used by entrepreneurs of Kerala

Pooling the CarPool By Anand was like a 2 minute maggi Noodles . Whoever went to the Loo Missed the session . But still those few minutes were enough to convey the real idea of not much popular concept of CarPooling in Kerala.

Do they Serve Beer at BarCamp by Arun Basil Lal was part of his Plan D to impress the girls who come for BarCamp.   It was simple talk on the origin of BarCamp and other Background details. He also Presented 2 Good softwares MindMAP and Tudumo  which i found really interesting.

After that we had the lunch… we had normal meals for Lunch.

After Lunch We Had a Session on Ethical hacking By Manu Zacharia . The Presentation was simply awesome.  Manu really put a complex subject in very simple and neat form for every one to understand. He also demonstrated  some of the usual ways of hacking.   He was successful in explaining the correct meaning of Hacker and Hacking.

Then there was a Session on Drupal by Muneef.    I wasnt much attentive for his session .. except for finding some repeated “taxonomy”  in his presentation.

There was small but Beautiful Session by Binny on his method of learning a New language by the Halo Script Method.  The Hello scripts can be found on Binny’s Web Site . I’m Planign to Take the Hello Scripts and Learn languages like Python, Pearl , TCL etc .. I feels like it is really  a nice way to study and refer a language.

A small Talk on ILUG cochin was given by sameer. i never knew ILUG is changed to Indian Libre User Group from Indian Linux User Group .

An Open Source Movie BigBuckBunny was presented to the audience

Arun Basil Lal was giving an twitter commentary of Barcamp with the hashTag #BCK6 .  it helped to send information live to many who wanted to be in the Barcamp but somehow couldn’t make it.

Deepu Joseph did an amazing job to arrange the venue and also ensured participation from the college.  And I guess BarCamp kerala 6 saw the Maximum Female attendees.

Your guess is right, it had the maximum poll of female attendees, all 13 of them. You talk as if you didnt even notice them. lol, just kidding.

Some great work here. I didnt actually listen to Binny’s session then, I cannot take the extreme tech talk, and I was having trouble with twitter then.

I just did a look up on hello scripts and found some interesting stuffs, esp the JAVASCRIPT hello script, feels like I should have listened. No prejudices from now on.

I had a great time sitting with you and @crazyjibin. As Jibin said, we should meet more often, at obron.

Hey, Thanks for the lunch :)

It was great to see you there. I hadn’t met you after 2 of our tweetups.

And, I think you’re too addicted to Java. Why? Look at some words:

vishnuPsp, DropOut, CarPooling, BigBuckBunny, hashTag. “BarCamp” is okay, its written that way.

LOL, JK, ok? Don’t hate me :-p
